Whale Watching!

We got to go on a whale watching tour today since Greg was off work. We saw several humpbacks bubble-net feeding, and later we saw a humpback with her calf. It was fun to be out on a boat on a stormy day rather than stuck inside!

In the distance of this photo you can see two whales. That's the best my camera can do.
Preston's been asking to go on a boat and he just loved it. A little cold for him on the deck but he had fun just being there.
We launched from Auke Bay.
This little kid likes to put on quite the show whenever people are around. He's got a screech that precedes his giggles, and it's hilarious!

More Fun

Well the rain is back here in Juneau, and Preston wanted to show off his cool rain boots. He especially loves these boots because he gets to stomp in puddles in them...and he can put them on all by himself!
We're always looking for something fun to do on these long rainy days while Greg's at work, so this day we had a star party. I hung stars from the ceiling and we sang "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and even talked about Mozart. I must say the stars made the house much more lively looking! Sam even liked them.
With our time in Juneau coming to a close, we're trying to fit in everything we want to do before we leave. We went on a little hike up by the glacier, watched the salmon spawning, and even saw a little black bear eating some salmon. Sorry no pictures of the bear. It was in the trees and hard to see, and there were people everywhere so I did not take a picture.

The Main Event

So the only reason we got to come back to Utah for a fun break was for (Greg's brother) Paul and Jessica's wedding. I feel bad I don't have more pictures but here's some good ones.

Jacob, Preston, Paul, Sam, Zach, and Aaron.
Can you see Sam's hand in this one? Yup, he's still in there.
Worn out at the luncheon. And wasn't it a good lunch! Sam stole all my ice cream, can you tell?
We actually had a good day going to the wedding. The boys did really well and we enjoyed ourselves. We've got the best little boys!!

Utah fun

We had a great time being back in Utah hanging out with all our family. North Shore was a big hit once Preston got used to the water.
Preston was so excited to be riding Lucky. He was not even scared! Cousins Ashton and Charlie got to ride Crystal the maniac horse who tried to run me over while I was leading her.

Katelyn and Sam. Could be siblings...don't you think?
Charlie and Preston and their matching Alaska shirts.
Puttin on a show
Sam, Preston and baby Parker.

Welcome Mom and Dad!

We had such a great time taking my parents around the area. Greg got to take them for a neat flight to Kake, and I showed them around Juneau while Greg was working.

This is a nice shot of the Mendenhall Glacier. If you ever see a postcard of it, it's likely to be taken from this spot with all the bright fireweed in the background. We were also so lucky to have such great weather! As we know in Juneau, if it's sunny, you're lucky!
We were able to go on the Glacier Bay Boat Tour which was beautiful! Greg and I went last year but it was so rainy we hardly saw anything. This time was spectacular. The Johns Hopkins Glacier put on a show for us as it was calving and causing big waves from the amount of ice hitting the water.

I think this was the best of the boys out of about 10 tries.
Happy Sam in Papi's new Alaska hat.

Fourth of July

So I know this is pretty late but here are some of my favorite photos from the day.
Notice the little headset poking out of the right seat--that's Preston. We got to fly over to Gustavus, Alaska for our 4th of July celebration. Real bush Alaska!

This bridge is where the parade goes by...twice. They don't want it to be over too quick. We had a great time.
Preston's first sparklers!
Sam the man in the outfit Preston wore last 4th of July.
